HSB and Balder: Fixfabriken inventory, demolition and remediation, Gothenburg
The former Fixfabriken covers more than 15,000 m² of workshop and surface-treatment buildings from 1947 onwards. Relement handled inventory, demolition and remediation of 13 buildings for HSB and Balder.
The challenge
The former Fixfabriken in Sandarna is planned for demolition to create a new residential area, while a small part of the original office section is to be preserved. Older building materials and installations contain hazardous substances, particularly asbestos, heavy metals and PCB.
What we did
Relement is responsible for environmental and materials inventories, contamination mapping, demolition plans, risk assessments and regulatory notifications. It also provides procurement documents, construction management and environmental monitoring during demolition, coordination with archaeological investigations and statutory supervision under PBL.
