The challenge

Many Swedish homes, schools and healthcare buildings built between 1950 and 1970 contain hazardous materials such as asbestos, PCB, tar and heavy metals. These materials often remain beneath newer materials, and their removal accounts for a large share of demolition and refurbishment costs.

What we did

Relement's responsibilities include environmental and materials inventories of buildings and land, demolition plans and remediation notifications. It also prepares administrative specifications, supports contractor procurement and provides client support and environmental and quality checks during demolition.
